Has the summer been as sweet to you as to me?

Our dear little tenant moved in 1 May, into the green room — and what a delight it has been! The rooms of the “Inn” are filling up and my goodness it has been a blessing in many ways. Now we just have to negotiate the proper cool air ventilation tactics for the upstairs in this seasoned row-home.

Another new tenant that we’re excited about will be joining us in September. Preparations are in full swing, and it’s going to be a full summer of procurement!

What we have so far for our dear “little t” — a little jumper his father wore on the way home from the hospital, and a little pair of booties that I wore. This will be the first grandbaby on both sides, and my goodness he’s* in danger of being loved to death by grandparents, aunties, uncles and cousins, not to mention his adoring parents.

You may be wondering about the blue bliss bridesmaid dresses! They are coming along at a breathtaking pace. Each day another part is stitched into place, becoming part of a beautiful day in July when two sweethearts covenant before the Lord and friends.
Here are some bodices, sitting in a row, waiting to be nipped, turned and pressed. I will not reveal full pictures of the dresses till the wedding has gone off. Must leave a little suspense.

As my beautiful belly gets bigger it’s harder to wrangle fabric (snipping, stitching, stooping), so I’ve been pushing to finish at an early date. Then I hope to make a few of those flirty skirts & flowy tanks to accommodate my belly and this oppressive heat. BUT. No sewing for me or Baby until these dresses are D.O.N.E. 🙂

You may be asking about the nursery. Well, I’ve just finally found my theme. Thankfully! Hedgehogs and birdies. My husband was not surprised that birds made the cut. I’ll post more in the coming days.

Best wishes for a sweet Friday for you all — hope it proves to be as pleasant as mine promises to be!

*No gender yet, but soon we’re hoping to find out. I use “he” in the general mankind terms 🙂

The month of May is a Bridal Shower whirlwind for Mrs. T. I adore these showers, such a enjoyable time of party dresses, girly food, wrapped gifts and of course…the blushing future bride.

When not sewing the gorgeous blue bridesmaid dresses, I have sewn up a few little aprons for the future wives. My philosophy: one cannot properly bake, cook or kitch w/o the perfect personality tailored apron. I try to create & gift that perfect apron. It really is a fun challenge. Do I know them well enough to make the perfect one? I do try 🙂

Here are some snaps of the apron creation process. This one really created itself. I just kept fluffing, adding sheer bits, and sewing on rosettes.

The hand selected material. Chiffon and cotton print.

Notions of notions. Buttons, chiffon scraps, grosgrain ribbon.

Rosette detail. Love rosette clusters. Apron wouldn’t be complete without them.

Finished product, smiling in all is creamy glory.

Love me a cafe au lait w/ french pressed coffee — sitting next to me in a cheery yellow cup right now.

This spring I was asked to sew bridesmaid dresses for a wedding. And, SUCH pretty dresses they will be! A rich summery marine blue with a hint of french blue round the hem & waist. Completely unique, but ridiculously gorgeous. The color blocking is extremely flashy this season, and I’m delighted to be creating such magnificent dresses 🙂

Rough Schedule of Events:
1. Some retro girly ideas

2. & then the approved concept.

3.Procured fabric.
4.Snipped first bodice in medium size to gauge pattern sizing.

5.Timed process, 1 complete bodice (pattern trim to complete seams = 3 hrs)

Well on our way to completing the prettiest bridesmaid dresses of the season.

For any of you who know me well, you know that mid-January is one of my most highly anticipated times of the year. Why you may ask? Well. It is the oh-so-joyous time of the Starbucks Vanilla Vaudevillian Bean Cupcake. I pretty much swoon as soon as I see one of these little beauts. And this is for several reasons.

1. About four years ago was having a TRULY gray dismal, gorse-bush filled season, and yet that was the very moment when the very first Starbuck Cupcake, then called a “Sunshine Cupcake” [see picture below] entered my life.

It brought a sweet little glimmer of sweet hope, and I’ve always been grateful to the Lord for this little Ebenezer of faithfulness.

2. They are quite pretty. Simple and pretty.
3. They are not too sweet, just the perfect hint of sweetness, but not too much.

Sweetly enough, my friends and dear mother were able to track down a copy recipe of this cupcake, and low and behold managed to have it as our wedding cake. Perfection, I tell you perfection. This photo is complements of our dear photog, Naomi Elle.

Oh la la friends! Elle Street is featured on Jenny Anne Photography today 🙂
